Who we train

The National Medical Weight Loss Programme (NMWLP) was developed exclusively for the registered healthcare professionals listed below. Our training course is accessible for professionals belonging to the GMC, NMC, GDC or GPhC as their Professional Statutory and Regulatory Body.

  • Nurses (Must work with a Prescriber who attends the training)

  • Pharmacist Independent Prescribers

  • Dentists

Why become a Certified Partner?

There are numerous benefits to becoming a Certified Partner of  The National Medical Weight Loss Programme (NMWLP), one of the key benefits is that you will receive training both written and delivered by an expert advisor to NICE on obesity (Dr Matt Capehorn – see below). Matt brings a unique blend of experience and expertise, having established award winning services within both the NHS and private sectors.

The training team are leaders within their specialist areas, enabling members to benefit from a truly evidence based and multidisciplinary approach to weight management. They comprise

Guaranteed Immediate Insurance

Because our training was written and is delivered by an Expert Advisor to NICE on obesity, any registered healthcare professionals who become a Certified Partner of the NMWLP, will be guaranteed IMMEDIATE insurance without the need for prior experience of working in the field of obesity or diabetes with our preferred insurance partner (Cosmetic Insure).

The Course Modules

Gain all the knowledge and skills required to set up a private medical weight loss service. Training is delivered through two webinars run on consecutive days – see below

Day 1 (9am – 5pm)
  • Module 1 : The epidemiology and physiology of obesity
  • Module 2 : The fat cell, metabolism and appetite regulation
  • Module 3 : Weight Loss Interventions (excluding Pharmacotherapy)
  • Module 4a : Pharmacotherapy (Phentermine, Orlistat, Mysimba and Liraglutide)
Day 2 (9am – 3pm)
  • Module 4b : Pharmacotherapy continued (Semaglutide – and ‘off-label’ prescribing)
  • Module 5 : Setting up a medical weight management clinic
  • Module 6 : Setting up a remote medical weight management service (Remote consultations & prescribing via video-link with PriMed Pharmacy)
  • Module 7 : Insurance (Cosmetic Insure), Pharmacy Supplies (PriMed Pharmacy), CQC registration assistance if needed, Closed Facebook Group, Access to private Dropbox, Marketing Material and pathology services if needed
